The Global Natural Healthcare Trust
A small charity doing a big job in South Africa.
Web site: www.gnhct.org
There are more than 50 million known cases of HIV/AIDS in the world today. 5 million of these are in South Africa [published by South African Treatment Action Campaign 2005]. South Africa has a serious problem.
The GNHCT on Orange Farm
Our charity has been working since 2001 on the Orange Farm Settlement, situated just outside of Johannesburg. Orange Farm is home to hundreds of thousands of people living in extremely impoverished circumstances, many of whom are also afflicted with the HIV/AIDS virus.
The Global Natural Healthcare Trust cares for and treats several thousand HIV/ AIDS patients at our holistic treatment centre.
Our treatment is given free of charge. There are several thousand patients who, without our help, would have lost their lives.
Founded by Medical Herbalist Annette Montague-Thomas, the charity treats patients holistically with medical herbs which are both safe and organic.
GNHCT has been providing treatment on the Orange Farm Settlement since long before Antiretrovirals were permitted in South Africa. We embrace an Integrated Medicine approach.
The herbal treatments, which are provided free of charge, work by strengthening the bodily systems. The otherwise prescribed medicaments, known as Antiretrovirals, are only available to nonpaying patients who have a CD4 count of 200 and below. Many are still waiting.
Does the treatment work?
The treatments we prescribe are working. In many cases we have achieved the following:
- Viral Loads have been reduced by half within two months of treatment;
- CD4 counts have almost doubled within three months of treatment.
We need to be able to access a regular food supply to help feed our patients of all ages. No medicine will work without nutrition.
We also need funds to purchase blood testing equipment, as out-sourcing tests is very expensive. Testing must be provided free of charge to the patient. Twice-yearly testing is not enough, we need to provide monthly tests to optimise our formulas to benefit the patient. Please note, at no time do we claim to have a cure.
- We campaign for Safer Sex.
- We provide free condoms, allocated to us by the South African Department of Health.
- We encourage patients to test for HIV/AIDS by visiting their local clinics.
- We counsel our patients.
- We advise patients about all Sexually Transmitted Diseases.
- We inform patients about the difference between their Viral Load and CD4 count.
- We encourage an integrated Medicine approach.
- We carry out home clinical visits to those who are too weak and therefore bed-ridden.
- All prescriptions are provided free of charge, to the value of Rand 600, or £60 sterling, per person per month.
The GNHCT Medical Team
The GNHCT has a dedicated team of trained Healthcare Workers.
In one of our Treatment Centres there are 25 Healthcare Workers:
- 10 work with the Charity's Founder when she visits South Africa each month.
- 15 work as Field Workers full time, bathing and feeding patients and ensuring that prescriptions are being taken regularly.
- All work as Field Workers when the clinic is not open.
- We have a full time South African Registered Nurse overseeing the Healthcare Workers and checking the Field Reports on the patients’ progress.
- We provide comprehensive patient care.
Who is working with The GNHCT?
We receive support from:Rotary Clubs in the UK: Shaftesbury, Blandford Stour, Truro, Helston/Lizard, Torquay
Rotary Clubs in South Africa: Henley on Klip, Haennertsburg
Their support enabled us to start our herbal nursery, purchase some food and much needed medical supplies.
Rotary Clubs helped The GNHCT to purchase a much needed 4x4 vehicle and an estate car to collect supplies and bring disabled patients to our Treatment Centre. They have also enabled us to purchase computer equipment for our medical records.
The monthly running cost of a GNHCT treatment centre in South Africa
The costs involved in the running of one Treatment Centre currently lie in the region of Rand 50,000 - 60,000 per month (£5,000 - £6,000 sterling).
These costs vary depending on supplies required.
Running costs include: medical herbs, medical supplies, wages for clinical staff, administration costs and travel expenses.
At present, the GNHCT founder and trustees work for no renumeration. However, expenses will be covered for their work, once funds are available.
Why urgent funds are needed for The GNHCT's coming year.
With adequate funding, The GNHCT would be able to purchase laboratory equipment for regular blood testing for: The Viral Load and CD4 readings, enabling patients’ improvement to be monitored and prescriptions altered to suit.
Sufficient funds would enable The GNHCT to have their unique formulas manufactured to enable all those in South Africa, who are suffering so unnecessarily, to benefit from our treatments.
Medicine would only be charged at cost to all Government Clinics.
GNHCT will not associate with any organisation trying to profiteer from the Global HIV/AIDS Pandemic.
The GNHCT South African Corporate Sponsorship Programme
If your company feels committed to the future of South Africa and its financial stability in industry, you will understand the need to protect your workforce.
Along with other businesses, you will be aware that you cannot afford to let your employees wait until their CD4 Count is 200 or below, before they receive the recommended prescribed ARV’s. A real alternative, which is safe and has helped so many with their health problems and in particular HIV/AIDS and AIDS related disorders, is the Holistic Treatment offered by GNHCT at our Holistic Treatment Centre.
The GNHCT South African Corporate Sponsorship Programme enables us to offer treatment to your personnel at our Holistic Treatment Centre.
By being one of the companies sponsoring this project within their Social Responsibility Programme or Commitment to Uplifting the Communities budget, you would be supporting those who are fighting for their lives. You would also be helping your own workforce to a healthier and more productive future.
The GNHCT project to date has been funded through donations made in the UK. Now is the time for South African companies to participate in this courageous project to secure their futures.
Join us now and let your company be a leading light in South Africa.
